European countries should be aware of the economic potential of the Lebanon as a commercial centre, the Taoiseach, Mr Bruton, said yesterday after meeting the Lebanese Prime Minister, Mr Rafique Hariri, in Dublin.

Mr Bruton spoke about the close links between the Republic and Lebanon. Mr Hariri described the meeting as a "very fruitful discussion", and said he would keep in touch with Mr Bruton and consult him before the next meeting of the consultative group on the Middle East peace process.
