HillwalkingIf you enjoy hillwalking but are unfamiliar with southwest Donegal, check out Oideas Gael's programme of walks. The area, dominated by Slieve League with its magnificent sea cliffs, offers a wide variety of walks for novices and experienced walkers. Participants are advised to bring all necessary equipment with them and a reasonable level of fitness is required. The seven-day programmes will continue until the end of August and the fee is €180. Muckno Mania FestivalThe 10th festival will take place on the weekend of July 16th-19th. Highlight of the weekend will be the Muckno Mania Triathlon on Saturday, which will include a 750m swim, a 20km cycle and a five-kilometre run. The 750m swim will take a course on the waters of Lough Muckno, where the legendary Black Pig made his entrance many years ago and thus gave the name Muc Snaimh to the lake. Highland gamesGlenarm Castle in Co Antrim will host the Highlander Challenge on July 14th and 15th. Along with the traditional highland feats of strength will be sheep-shearing, pole climbing, livestock competitions, crafts, funfair rides, food outlets, entertainment and displays.
