What's on your rider?

What's on your rider?Good wine and fruit. I can't ask for sweets anymore due to tour spots and middle-age spreadage.

What would be on your fantasy rider?Hendrick's gin, champagne, elderflower cordial and tonic. That there would be my love potion. You may use it for good if you wish.

What's your pre-gig ritual/ routine? What I like is to pace around feeling anxious and look in the mirror every few minutes to fix imaginary hairs into place.

What's the best gig you've been to?Ben Folds at Vicar St recently. I got that old feeling when the gig was over that I needed to hear all the songs he'd played straight away. It's been a few months and it's still all I'm listening to.

And the worst? The worst gigs I've been to have probably been my own – in the early days I could clear the room with aplomb. Also, I attended a very early Boyzone gig.

What are your favourite and least favourite venues?Anything that feels privately run and doesn't provide you with an aftershow lanyard. Even that word, "lanyard". Lllaanyyaard. We have so many special venues in Ireland that don't make me have to say that word.

Who is the most famous person to have shown up at one of your gigs?Michael Jackson.

Most embarrassing on-stage moment?Janey, I'm immune to embarrassing moments. I've had boobs popping out, snot bubbles during the "quiet bit of the song". I've fallen over monitors, fallen over whilst holding guitars that made comedy clangs as I hit the ground. I once put the guitar on backwards, with the strings facing me, and didn't realise until I tried to play it two minutes into the song. EVERYONE SAW! That one still flushes my cheeks, actually.

What's your crowd-pleasing number?I think it's Sing for Your Supper.

How many roadies does it take to change your lightbulbs (ie, how big is your entourage)? When I'm lucky enough to have them I have one roadie, a sound engineer and tour manager.

Have you a special stage wardrobe? No. But I do like black dresses that have a masculine feel, no female wobbles allowed.
