Refurbishment plan for Nutgrove centre

Nutgrove is strongly anchored by Penneys, Dunnes Stores and Tesco

After broadening the appeal of the 30-year-old centre by signing up two new brands, Carrig Donn and Tiger, Davy Real Estate is planning further refurbishment of Nutgrove Shopping Centre in Rathfarnham, Dublin 14.

There is considerable confidence that the upgrading will help to reposition the centre and attract additional footfall.

A planning application has been lodged proposing a new contemporary image for the centre where the malls have been improved in recent years. Glazed illuminated double height lobbies are to be added to both entrances to act as focal points for customers.

The visually dominant and dated aluminium canopy is to be removed and replaced by a contemporary high quality stone surround along with a render and brick finish.

There are also plans to upgrade the landscaping and paved areas in front of the shopping centre which recorded a 4 per cent increase in footfall in 2015.

All the Davy-owned shops within the 20,252sq m (218,000sq ft) centre – it has a 60 per cent stake – are fully occupied and some of the multiple traders are anxious to expand their units.

Nutgrove is strongly anchored by Penneys, Dunnes Stores and Tesco.
