O’Donnell likely to miss Munster championship semi-final on June 15th with hamstring injury

Clare manager David Fitzgerald is probably going to have to do without Shane O'Donnell for next month's Munster hurling semi-final against the winners of next week's Cork-Waterford match.

O’Donnell, who erupted onto the national scene by scoring three goals during last year’s All-Ireland final replay against Cork, having been named as a late choice to start the match, aggravated a hamstring injury on Saturday night when playing for his club Éire Óg against Whitegate.

The player missed the All-Ireland champions’ league semi-final against Tipperary last month because of a similar injury and just a few minutes into his comeback, pulled up after making a run for the ball.

It is believed that the damage will take around six weeks to clear, which would rule him out of Clare’s opening championship encounter on June 15th.
