Ingenious film-maker and tireless advocate of the Irish film industryIn Print Edition TOM HAYES, who has died aged 82, was a documentary and feature film-maker and tireless advocate of an indigenous Irish film industry. He served on the Irish film industry committee chaired by John Huston in the 1960s and, a decade later, was a founder member of the film industry section of the Irish Transport and General Workers' Union (now Siptu), established to encourage the use of domestic crews on Irish productions.
