Sir, – An intervention by Jacob Rees-Mogg intended as a fillip for his boss, Boris Johnson, has simultaneously holed the Scottish Conservatives below the water line, and energised that country's independence movement ("Rees-Mogg dismisses Scottish Tory MP as a 'lightweight'", World, January 14th).
From Nicola Sturgeon’s perspective, he is the gift that keeps on giving.
It was never more abundantly clear with Mr Rees-Mogg that it is not just his Bentley, the older one, that requires double-declutching – it is also his brain. – Yours, etc,
