Taking the long view

Sir, – At the age of one, I could see to the edge of the house.

At four, I could see to the edge of the garden.

At 10, I saw Sputnik trail across the edge of space.

When I was 30, I saw our neighbouring planets of the solar system with my telescope, and then our home galaxy the Milky Way, and beyond that Andromeda, and others.

By the time I was 60, the Hubble telescope opened up the deep universe to me, and now am I about to see to the end, or beginning, of our known universe with the James Webb telescope?

What can follow that? The edge of eternity or the absolute end? – Yours, etc,
