Sir, – It is surely a sad world, as we learn from The Irish Times, how a Chinese teacher tells his students that president Xi Jinping is a new god (“Lessons on Xi Jinping’s political philosophy alarm Chinese parents”, August 30th).
He is seemingly perfect, only telling truth, developed from time around his mother’s knee and practised over a lifetime. Now he is “Grandpa Xi” and is always accompanying and encouraging all his adherents. How ridiculous!
Let us beware of anyone claiming divinity.
