Brexit podcast: Mapping out different scenarios for Ireland

John FitzGerald, Denis Staunton and Arthur Beesley discuss possible British exit from EU

Business leaders gathered in The Irish Times office on Wednesday morning to hear economist and Irish Times columnist Prof John FitzGerald, London Editor Denis Staunton and Economics Editor Arthur Beesley discuss the positions of the Leave and Remain campaigns, the economic risks to Ireland and some possible scenarios if Britain opts out of Europe.

Speaking at the event, Mr FitzGerald said the Government needs to prepare for the potentially "massively destabilising" effect of Brexit.

He also said success for the Leave campaign will have an economic impact on Ireland but the big issue for the authorities here is Northern Ireland.

Mr FitzGerald, Mr Staunton and Mr Beesley join Ciarán Hancock to continue the discussion on a special edition of The Irish Times Business Podcast.
