Eagles of Death Metal: 'our thoughts are with all involved'

Up to 100 of those killed in the terrorist attacks in Paris were attending concert by Californian rock band at Bataclan hall

Californian rock band Eagles of Death Metal were playing the Bataclan concert hall on Friday when terrorists burst into the venue and started shooting concert goers

It has been reported that up to 100 people died in the attack at the venue, which is only a short walk from the offices of Charlie Hebdo magazine.

Shortly after the attack the Eagles of Death Metal posted to their facebook page: "We are still currently trying to determine the safety and whereabouts of all our band and crew. Our thoughts are with all of the people involved in this tragic situation."

Their label, Universal Music Group, told the New York Times: "No members of the band were killed," "That is confirmed."

However, since then there have been unconfirmed reports that a crew member was among those killed.

Californian band Mojave Lords, tweeted that Dave Catching, a guitar player with Eagles of Death Metal, was safe. "David Catching is safe and sound according to EODM management. Thanks for your concern. We are still awaiting confirmation re some crew."

The support act at the Bataclan concert, Red Lemons, posted on Instagram: "Guys... I don't know what to say. We're more than lucky..." Adding that they were, "Thinking about those who passed away and who were having such a love time & happiness with all of us just a minute before..."

Eagles of Death Metal are currently on a European tour and played Dublin's Olympia Theatre on Monday, posting to their facebook page how much they had enjoyed it. An image of the band on stage at The Olympia read "This view never, ever, ever, ever gets old."

Despite what their name suggests, the band does not play Death Metal. Instead they plays 1970s style blues rock with irreverent humour.
