Two people have been rescued from MacGillacuddy Reeks in Co Kerry after they were injured in a fall.

The man (70) and a woman (67) were part a group of six people when they fell about 200 feet onto a narrow ledge, at around 2,000 feet above sea level yesterday.

A call was made to Mountain Rescue services shortly before 8 p.m. but bad weather conditions prevented the use of a helicopter and hampered the rescue operation for several hours.

The Mountain Rescue team managed to get the pair to safety in the early hours of this morning.
