Two people have died on Irish roads today, bringing the total number of roads deaths over the holiday period to three.

A 31-year-old woman has died following a road crash in Co Offaly earlier today.

The incident happend at about 8.40am at Durrow, which is close to Tullamore.

The woman was killed after the car she was driving crashed into a tree on the N52 Tullamore to Kilbeggan Road.

In Co Cork, a 42-year-old man has died following a crash in Old Chapel on the Bandon to Timologue Road in Co Cork.

The man died after the car he was driving struck a ditch. He was removed to Cork University Hospital.

On Christmas Eve a man died after being hit by a lorry in Co Kerry.

Gardaí in Tralee are investigating the fatal traffic collision, which took place in Ardfert, at about 3.40pm.

The male pedestrian was struck by a lorry in Ardfert village and pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was removed to Tralee General Hospital for a postmortem.
