Presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May have promised to recreate the infamous Thierry Henry handball when Top Gear Live gets underway this evening at the RDS.

The trio decided to reintroduce car football with four minis decked out in Irish and French colours for the occasion.

Hammond will represent Ireland while James May will represent the French and there will be a giant ball in the middle. The game will be refereed by the ever impartial Clarkson who once said that the only problem with France is that it is full of Frenchmen.

"The only rule is that you cannot touch the ball with your hand," he said.

"We feel your pain because we remember Maradona's Hand of God which knocked us out of the World Cup. We know how you all feel," said Clarkson.

The Top Gear Live team will host nine shows between now and Sunday starting tonight at 8.30pm.

The show will have some homegrown input as the dancer who opens it is Naomi Lynch, sister of Boyzone singer Shane Lynch and former B*witched singers Edele and Keavy Lynch.

She auditioned for the part and her role will involve setting rally cars on fire to start the show.

"It is the most dangerous show they have done yet as far as stunts are concerned," she said.
