A tourist, a taxi-driver and an elderly woman were attacked in separate incidents in Limerick city on Monday. Gardai are seeking a man who seriously assaulted an Australian tourist in Bedford Row. He was taken to Limerick Regional Hospital with head and mouth injuries.

That evening a taxi-driver who picked up a fare in Raheen had a sharp instrument placed to his neck by "a respectably dressed man". Fare-evasion appeared to be the motive, according to gardai.

Earlier on Monday a woman in her 80s had her handbag stolen in Mount St Laurence cemetery. A man in his 20s escaped on a bicycle. The woman lost £150.
