Trinity College Dublin has, been given notice by SIPTU that an overtime ban and work to-rule is to begin on May 1st, in a dispute over pension payments. Pickets may be placed on the college any time after May 29th.

In a ballot of the college's 500 SIPTU members a "big majority" voted for targeted industrial action involving stoppages, initially of up to five days at a time, up to and including all-out action.

The workers want the college, the Higher Education Authority, and the Department of Finance to withdraw planned cuts in pensions for full-time staff, and for a "serious offer" to be made of pensions for part-time workers.

The staff involved in the overtime ban and work-to-rule include security, grounds, secretarial, catering, computer, library, building maintenance, attendants, creche and other general services.
