The official search for a young Scottish man who was swept into the water by a wave while taking photographs on the cliffs in Baltimore, Co Cork, was called off yesterday afternoon, writes OLIVIA KELLEHER

However, naval and Garda divers continued to comb the waters yesterday in an attempt to trace the man’s remains.

The man, believed to be 19, is one of two young men who were swept into the water at a place known locally as Spain in Baltimore, west Cork.

The alarm was raised at about 8am on Saturday when the second man managed to make his way to a local house.
