American Andy Roddick became the first teenage ATP tournament winner since 1992, defeating Belgium's Xavier Malisse 6-2, 6-4, to win the Atlanta Challenge in Georgia.

The 18-year-old’s first tour title, in his ATP clay court debut, meant he was the first teen ATP winner since Michael Chang, who captured the 1992 San Francisco title at 19.

"I can't even explain it. It's great," Roddick said. "This is consistently the best I have played. I played five good matches here. We'll see how far I can go."

"You have to give it to Andy and I take my hat off to him," Malisse said. "His serve is more consistent and his game has improved a lot in the last six to seven months."
