A pilot escaped injury yesterday when a light aircraft crash-landed in a field in Limerick

A pilot escaped injury yesterday when a light aircraft crash-landed in a field in Limerick. The incident happened shortly before 5pm at Clonmacken on the outskirts of the city.

It is understood the pilot was headed towards Coonagh airstrip when the plane landed in the nearby field. Three units of Limerick Fire and Rescue Service attended. There was nobody else on board.

The air accident investigation unit of the Department of Transport is investigating.
