The Independent Monitoring Commission has delivered its third report to the Irish and British governments.

The commission monitors paramilitary ceasefires and acts of weapons decommissioning.

Its report was presented today to the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, Mr McDowell, and the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Mr Paul Murphy.

It is expected to be published by the governments next week.

It is understood the report is likely to cite a reduction in IRA activity but state that "all" paramilitaries including the IRA and the loyalists are still engaged in paramilitarism and general criminality.
