London - The Shadow Home Secretary, Ms Ann Widdecombe, is to meet other anti-abortion MPs this week to discuss the future of a leading campaign group rocked by mass resignations.

The showdown talks have been sparked by the resignation from the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children (SPUC) of its founder, Ms Phyllis Bowman, and at least six other members.

One former senior member said the new chairman, Mr Chris Walsh, has been summoned to Westminster tomorrow to see members of the ProLife All Party Parliamentary Group.
