Rome - International donors yesterday pledged almost $453 million to help flood-ravaged Mozambique in its monumental reconstruction task, beating aid expectations, the head of the UN Development Fund (UNDP) said.

"Today is a very good day for Mozambique, a very good day for Africa and a very good day for development co-operation," UNDP head Mr Mark Malloch Brown told a news conference.
