The trial of a Dublin man who denies possessing a stolen monkey and having a stun gun will take place in July.

Paul Murtagh (28), Birchdale Park, Kinsealy, Co Dublin, and Lighthouse Apartments, East Wall, Dublin, denies possession of "one common South American marmoset" worth €1,500 at Ravensdale Road, East Wall, on October 1st last.

He has also denied having unlawful possession of a stun gun at Marlborough Place, Dublin, on October 27th, 2009.

He was due to face trial at Dublin District Court yesterday on both charges and his defence sought to have the case dismissed when a Garda witness was not available.

However, the judge refused, and adjourned the hearing on both charges until July.
