Man to appear in court after fatal stabbing

A MAN arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing in Lucan, west Dublin, is expected to appear before the courts this morning.

The suspect was arrested at a house in Cannonbrook Park, Lucan, where the stabbing occurred at 7.30pm on Thursday.

The victim, Paul Harris (33), was in his family home with a man known to him when a row broke out between the pair.

The alleged attacker stabbed Mr Harris with a kitchen knife.

The emergency services were alerted and an ambulance attended Mr Harris at the scene. However, efforts to save Mr Harris failed and he was pronounced dead in the hallway of the house.

A suspect remained at the house until gardaí arrived and was arrested under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

He was initially taken to hospital for treatment for an arm injury and was then taken to Lucan Garda station, where he was held overnight.

Mr Harris’s body remained at the scene overnight. It was examined by a pathologist yesterday morning and was then removed for a full postmortem.

A knife gardaí believe was used to kill Mr Harris was found at the scene.
