A man was injured in a gun attack in Ballymurphy area of west Belfast today.

A man was injured in a gun attack in Ballymurphy area of west Belfast today.

The 24-year-old was standing outside the front door of his home in Whitecliff Parade when a shot was fired at him.

He is a member of the Notarantonio family which has been involved in a two year feud with a neighbouring family which has continued since the murder of Gerard Devlin who was shot dead in February 2006.

Police said they were investigating the motive for the latest shooting, but said initial indications were that it was not feud linked.

The shooting happened about 1am and the victim suffered only minor injuries.

He was treated in hospital but later released, said a police spokeswoman.

Detectives investigating the shooting appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Four members of the Notarantonio family have been charged with the murder of Gerard Devlin who was beaten and stabbed to death.

They are awaiting trial, after denying murdering the 39-year-old father of six.
