A man is in a serious condition in hospital today after being shot in the arm and chest.
The man, who was in his early 20s, was in the garden of a house at Bawnlea Avenue, Jobstown in Dublin's Tallaght when the incident occurred shortly before 1am.
Gardai said the young man had been in the garden with other people when an row broke out with a number of men and shots were fire.
As a result of the altercation, the young man is in a serious condition in Tallaght hospital with gunshot wounds to the upper arm and chest.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the shooting incident which occurred around 00.40 to ring Tallaght Garda Station on 01 666 6000.
