A 19-year-old man questioned by gardai in connection with a shooting attack on a young woman at an unauthorised halting site in Dublin last Saturday morning was released this morning.

A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Eighteen-year-old Ms Christina Ward was shot in the leg in at her caravan in Ringsend by two masked men, one of whom was armed with a shotgun. The men reportedly left the scene in a red Honda car.

A number of hours after the shooting detectives arrested a man under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act and he was taken to Donnybrook Garda station where he was questioned until this morning.

The wounded woman underwent surgery at St Vincent's hospital where her condition is described as stable.
