Australia coach Eddie Jones says he will resist the temptation to make wholesale changes to the team for Saturday's Tri-nations match with South Africa, despite their record defeat by New Zealand last weekend.

Calls for changes reverberated around the country after the world champions went down 50-21 on Saturday, but Jones said today there was no need to panic.

The coach, whose own position has been heavily scrutinised, told a businessman's breakfast that the time for experiments was over with the World Cup starting in less than 11 weeks.

"We're looking to get some stability in selection now," he said. "We believe we've got the best players."

Jones called prop Glenn Panoho, hooker Jeremy Paul and lock Justin Harrison into the training squad this week but it is unlikely they will force their way into the starting team to play the Springboks when the side is announced tomorrow.

Panoho could be included on the bench after replacement prop Ben Darwin injured his knee in training. Utility back Joe Roff, who was injured scoring a try against South Africa in Cape Town earlier this month, is still not available but could make a comeback for the return match with the All Blacks on August 16th.

Stirling Mortlock, another key figure in the backline for the Wallabies, is expected to be back playing club rugby in September, ruling him out of the Tri-nations but making him available for the World Cup which starts on October 10th.
