Man (31) dies after car hits tree in Co Cavan

A man has died following a single vehicle crash in Co Cavan.

The car he was driving hit a tree at about 10.15pm on Sunday on the R154 Ballinagh to Crossdoney Road at Kildallagh.

Gardaí said the driver (31) was seriously injured in the crash and taken to Cavan General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. He was travelling alone at the time.

A postmortem is to be carried out on his remains later.

The R154 was partly closed on Monday morning while gardaí examined the scene of the crash and diversions were in place.
