Gardaí have recovered the car involved in a hit-and-run incident last Sunday in which four people were injured. The car was found in the Mayfield area of Cork city yesterday morning.
The seizure followed the incident in Togher on Sunday morning when four people were hit by a car as they crossed the road. Two of the victims, both men in their 20s, are in a serious condition in Cork University Hospital.
Gardaí said the discovery of the red Volkswagen Polo car is a major breakthrough.
"No arrests have been made yet but we are following a number of lines of inquiry," a garda said.
Gardaí are waiting to interview the victims and one of the men, a 24-year-old from Deanrock Estate, Togher, may hold crucial information about the driver.
