Explosive device found in Dublin

An explosive devise was discovered on a housing estate in Co Dublin early this morning, it has emerged.

An explosive devise was discovered on a housing estate in Co Dublin early this morning, it has emerged.

The Army bomb disposal team was called to the Ashwood Road area of Clondalkin at about 1.15am after an anonymous call was made to gardaí.

The device, which was described as "viable" was made safe at the scene and its remains  handed to the Gardaí for their investigations.

A spokesman for the Defence Forces advised members of the public to contact gardaí if they come across any suspicious devices. However, they urged people not to touch any such devices as to do so could cause injury.
