NICOSIA - A senior EU official yesterday urged rival sides of divided Cyprus to embark on talks to find a political settlement The European External Affairs Commissioner, Mr Hans Van Den Broek, made the call as he started a round of contacts on both sides of the Mediterranean island, partitioned by Turkey since 1974.
