London - Scientists yesterday unveiled a treatment for asthma which they claim could almost completely eradicate the condition within 10 years. Experts believe they have found a way of "switching off" allergic responses in new-born babies using a simple tuberculosis-style jab.

Prof John Warner, of Southampton General Hospital, said the new inoculation would be tested next year.
