A 16-year-old Dublin youth has been refused bail after a court heard that he threatened shop workers at knife-point three days in row.

The teenager made no reply when he was charged with robbery of €600 from a Londis shop on North King Street in Dublin on February 22nd, and €200 from the same shop two days later. He is accused of robbing €180 from a Spar shop in Dublin 8 on February 23th.

At a bail hearing at the Dublin Children's Court yesterday, Judge John O'Connor heard gardaí wanted the teenager remanded in custody due to the seriousness of the offences.

The youth was identified on CCTV footage and when arrested at his home he made admissions, the court heard.

Judge O'Connor refused to grant bail, and remanded the youth in custody to appear again at the same court on March 13th. Another hearing is to be held to determine whether his case should stay in the Juvenile Court or instead be referred to the Circuit Court. The youth has been granted legal aid.
