Murder inquiry begins after man attacked in Navan dies

Gardaí have begun a murder investigation after a man who was attacked in Navan, Co Meath died.

Christopher Nevin (27) was seriously injured in an altercation with a number of men.

The incident happened at about 2.15pm on Thursday at Tailtean Road in Windtown.

The other men involved got into a silver car, which drove off in the direction of the town centre.

Mr Nevin was taken by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where he died on Friday.

A postmortem will take place on Saturday.

Gardaí in Navan are appealing for witnesses, or asking for anyone who was on the Tailtean Road or in the vicinity of Windtown between 1.50pm and 2.30pm on Thursday to contact them on 046-907-9930, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666-111, or any Garda station.
