The girlfriend of a Belfast man acquitted of an INLA feud murder was sentenced to 75 hours' community service yesterday for providing a false alibi for him. Siobhan Ellan Boyle (28), from Colinvale, Poleglass, told police that Mr Brendan Gallagher had been with her in a Lisburn shopping complex at the time of the shooting on May 25th, 1996.

In December Mr Gallagher (31) was found not guilty at Belfast Crown Court of the murder of an INLA man, Mr Dessie McCleery, at the Chicago Pizza Pie Factory, off Belfast's Dublin Road. However, Boyle was convicted of perverting the course of justice.
