The Tanaiste, Ms Harney, said yesterday that the statement from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Burke, will create no tension or difficulties between the Government partners.
"I think that his statement was very clear and precise and explains what happened," she said yesterday at the RDS show grounds.
"The Taoiseach has already confirmed what was in the statement. There is also a Garda investigation and anyone with any information should give it to the gardai." She said his statement was not ambivalent. It was definite about the facts and the truth.
"I thought it was a very strong statement. I think it answered all the queries raised in the last number of weeks in various articles in the media," she said.
"I said before I have total faith in the judgment of the Taoiseach in relation to the Fianna Fail members of the Cabinet.".
The statement had confirmed the findings of the Taoiseach's investigation, she added.
