Police are treating as arson a fire that damaged a Masonic hall in south Belfast last night.

Detectives were called to the hall on Park Road in the Ballynafeigh area shortly before midnight where they found the kitchen area alight.

It  was found that a padlock securing a window grille had been cut off and a flammable liquid thrown inside.

However, police do not believe that the motive behind the fire, which caused extensive damage to the hall, was sectarian.
