ATMs pulled from walls in Cavan

Thieves used a digger today to rip two cash machines out of bank buildings in an early morning raid on a small town.

Thieves used a digger today to rip two cash machines out of bank buildings in an early morning raid on a small town.

A number men drove into Cootehill, Co Cavan, at around 5.20am on a tractor, low loader and digger.

They targeted two ATM machines at branches of the Ulster Bank and Bank of
Ireland, next to each other.

The Garda said considerable damage was done to the buildings and some equipment was left at the scene.

The gang made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

No arrests have been made.
