Armed cash-in-transit raid in Dublin

Gardaí are appealing for information about a raid on a cash-in-transit van in Dublin on Thursday.

The incident occurred at 10.50am outside a bank in Sandymount Village. A lone male believed to have been armed with a handgun threatened staff and took the cash box as it was being uploaded. A five-figure sum is believed to have been taken.

No shots were fired and there were no injuries. The man left in a green Toyota Avensis driven by another man in the direction of Strand Road.

Gardaí said tonight the investigation was ongoing and anybody with information can contact Irishtown gardaí on (01) 6669608.
