The people of Dublin West - and The Irish Times - have been "sold a pup" by Fianna Fail over its position on the Phoenix Park casino plan, Minister of State Mr Austin Currie has claimed.

On May 3rd it was reported that the Fianna Fail leader, Mr Bertie Ahern, had spelled out his party's opposition to the plan in a Dail debate. His remarks were circulated by the party's press office, headed "Extract from speech by Bertie Ahern TD on Fianna Fail private members' motion, Wednesday 30/4/1997". Mr Currie said yesterday the Dail report of Mr Ahern's speech did not include this reference.

A Fianna Fail spokesman said time may have curtailed Mr Ahern's Dail speech.
