Wexford top list of nominations

CAMOGIE ALL STARS:All-Ireland champions Wexford top the list of nominations for the 2012 camogie All Star awards, with beaten finalists Cork the next best represented, writes Ian O'Riordan.

Wexford received 12 nominations, followed by Cork on 11, Galway seven, Offaly six, Tipperary and Clare three, Kilkenny two and Dublin one.

The winners will be announced on November 3rd. Wexford will hope to see their triple All-Ireland winning exploits rewarded, with captain Karen Atkinson and defensive colleagues, Catherine O’Loughlin, Claire O’Connor, Deirdre Codd and Noeleen Lambert all vying for spots on the final XV. Cork’s Gemma O’Connor, goalkeeper Aoife Murray, along with midfielders Orla Cotter and Jennifer O’Leary, are among the nominees from the All-Ireland finalists and league champions.
