LEINSTER MHD QUARTER-FINALS: Westmeath 3-9 Carlow 2-6WESTMEATH ADVANCED to a semi-final meeting with Kilkenny by virtue of a convincing six-point win over Carlow at St Loman's Park in Mullingar on Saturday afternoon.

The winners were the better team and were ahead by 1-5 to 0-2 at the interval, Barry O’Meara scoring the Westmeath goal.

An opportunist goal from Michael Cantwell early in the second half brought the visitors back into contention. Westmeath responded with Anthony Price firing to the net within a minute.

In the second last minute of normal time, Stephen Boylan scored Westmeath’s third goal and Richard Deegan’s late goal for Carlow was merely a consolation.
