The internet may have broadened many people's horizons but its influence has not permeated the corridors of power of Irish sporting organisations. Having received a complaint recently from an internet journalist about a lack of access to Lansdowne Road - he couldn't get a press ticket for a rugby international - this column decided to investigate the stance taken by the IRFU, GAA and FAI on this issue.

The FAI will be meeting in the next few weeks to discuss the status of journalists who apply from internet companies. They are currently in the process of establishing their own website and will be addressing the other issue. The GAA has an agreement with Setanta.com to maintain and update their website and confirmed that there is a pecking order, as their has to be, in the demand for press tickets.

The IRFU is way over-subscribed in terms of the media and they are to broadcast a live transmission of the after match press conferences for internationals on their website. It will take place for the first time following the French match on Saturday week.
