Weather rules in Wexford

The Wexford-Waterford NHL Division One B fixture was postponed yesterday morning after a pitch inspection at New Ross

The Wexford-Waterford NHL Division One B fixture was postponed yesterday morning after a pitch inspection at New Ross. The decision came less than 24 hours after the county's Division Two A NFL match against Monaghan was called off due to unplayable conditions at Gorey. "The weather last week was very wet," according to county secretary Mick Kinsella, "and after the football match on Saturday went we decided to have a look at the pitch in New Ross. At 4.30 in the afternoon we inspected it and decided to check it again in the morning. Geraldine O'Hanrahan was already on to us on the morning and said that we'd better take a look at it. At 10.30 we decided the match couldn't be played.

"I was in contact with Seamus Grant (Waterford county secretary) to let him know that the game was off. They don't have far to travel and we even managed to get the referee Ger Harrington before he left Cork," said Kinsella.

No decision has been made on a date for the re-fixture.
