RACING:RUBY WALSH has ground to make up if he is to get into pole position for a ninth jockeys championship in Ireland this season and he can start the process with a double at Downpatrick today.

Since returning from the injury picked up on Aintree Grand National day, Walsh has had 11 winners from 38 rides in Ireland but trails the current leader Andrew McNamara by 20.

McNamara could hit the scoresheet in today’s opener with the jumping newcomer Garlough in the maiden hurdle but Walsh himself looks a significant booking for the fencing first-timer Your Busy in the first of the Beginners Chases.

James Nash’s runner won twice over hurdles during the summer and can complete a double for his jockey who earlier rides Golan Guy for Tony Martin in the second maiden hurdle.

The hike up in distance should suit the course runner-up.

If ground conditions stay quick then Stellar Star may the one for the bumper.

Colm Murphy’s six-year-old was runner up on her Tramore debut and should improve for the experience.
