Argentina -20 Wales - 35: Wales coach Mike Ruddock is hoping Ireland's inside knowledge of South Africa will help the tourists gain a historic first away win over the Springboks.

While Wales were levelling their Test series against Argentina, fitness coach Huw Bevan and an advance guard of 10 players were on a spying mission, having travelled to South Africa last Wednesday.

Ireland have agreed Bevan can collect videotapes and analysis data as Wales prepare for the encounter at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.

Ruddock, who coached Leinster and Bective Rangers, said: "I am hoping to get hold of Eddie O'Sullivan and if I do that will be the bonus."

Another Irishman, referee Donal Courtney, played an important role in Wales's win by explaining his interpretation of the tackle area to Ruddock in a pre-match meeting. Courtney was in charge as Wales lost 50-44 to the Pumas in the first Test.

Ruddock said: "As regards the meeting with the referee, who is a professional official, he explained what he wanted to see at the rucks and would not be swayed by my perspective of the tackle area and I came away from that meeting with a better perspective of his view of the tackle area."

Wing Shane Williams scored a devastating hat-trick of first-half tries to set Wales up for the win.

Williams benefited from superb teamwork for his first and third scores, but his solo effort after 11 minutes was the best score of the game.

The Neath-Swansea Ospreys player shimmied his way through a bewildered Pumas defence for a memorable touchdown.

The tourists held a 25-0 half-time lead but after the interval the hosts fought back.

Wales captain Colin Charvis was sent to the sin-bin for the second successive match as the Pumas scored tries through Omar Hasan, Federico Aramburu and Lucas Borges.

However, a replacement front row for Wales saw them re-exert their authority with a try from fly-half Nicky Robinson.
