Old Wesley claimed their first win of the season at Donnybrook on Saturday in this the AIB All-Ireland Division Two encounter. And while the one point winning margin was perhaps a touch too close for comfort it nonetheless was a major boost for the club.

The hosts were rather cavalier in their approach in the opening stages as Instonians capitalised to go into a 12-3 lead with out-half Gray Cornelius kicking four penalties to Old Wesley's one, converted by his opposite number Paul Allen.

But the game began to swing back in Wesley's favour with just four minutes left of the first half when Rob Casey went over.

Ronan Gavan sealed the issue nine minutes after the recess when he powered over from 10 yards.
