Ireland, with successive Triple Crowns in the last two seasons, will be hoping to go one better and initiate a Grand Slam when they take on France at Universities level in Galway tomorrow (3.0 p.m.). The match takes places at Glenina, home to Galwegians RFC.

Meanwhile, the Defence Forces take on the French army at Sydney Parade tomorrow (2.30) with several AIB League Division One players in their midst. But the most familiar name might be Irish out-half Mick Brennan, who first played in this fixture in 1979 and has been present in virtually every match since.
