Ulster gained a modicum of revenge for their Celtic League semi-final defeat with a comprehensive 51-24 victory over an under-strength Munster side in a friendly at Ravenhill last night.

Of greater importance for both sides, however, was the chance to shake off Christmas cobwebs before the resumption of the Heineken Cup next weekend.

Ulster, close to full-strength, established a first-half lead of five points woth tries by Neil Doaks, Adam Larkin and Ryan Constable, with David Humphries kicking three conversions and a penalty.

Jeremy Staunton kept the visitors in touch by kicking 14n points in the first half, with four penalties and the conversion of a try by prop Marcus Horan.

But Ulster took control when Constable went over for his second, converted by Humphreys, who then scored two more penalties, a try and a conversion.
